this is an information site for students in Bachelor program International Social Work, before you start the course Practical Training in Social Work in Springtime.

In modules you can find some information about the process of finding a placement for your last course before summer break in year 2. As soon as you started your course, you will instead enroll in the actual course site, as usual.

You search for placements your self and you have a lot of freedom in terms picking the countries, organizations, target groups, social problems and methods you want to. You need to have a supervisor with some kind of degree in academic social work, and/or a long experience in the field of social work. The University of Gävle will after the practice donate a small amount to the organization admitted the student.

Note that since you are studying International Social Work, you will benefit greatly by practicing in organizations with a global perspective.

You can look for placements in private areas of social work in Sweden, or in NGO. It´s almost not possible to get a placement in public administrations in Sweden, for exampel in schools, social services or hospitals. Those organizations often have agreements with national programs in Sweden, and requries that you talk Swedish. They also prefer to admit students a longer period of time.
